World of Warcraft Gold Making Professions: Inscription

Inscription

General Overview

Inscription is a very profitable profession that you can have in World of Warcraft. More so than most right now during the Cataclysm expansion that we are currently in. This profession will allow you to make glyphs for EVERY class in the game and EVERY class in the game needs them to make their class abilities more powerful.

However since the changes in patch 4.0 Blizzard made it so that you only have to learn a glyph ONCE and you will know it on that character forever. As opposed to how it used to be where if you wanted to change a glyph you would need a new one every time. Instead of having to buy glyphs over and over again, you just need to buy Vanishing powder or Dust of Disappearance depending on your level.

Now before you think that "Well if someone only needs to learn it once and never need it again, how can I make money selling glyphs?" Simple. You need to understand that people are making new characters EVERYDAY. So what does that mean? People are going to need glyphs EVERYDAY!

Now that we got that out of the way. Inscription is best paired with Herbalism, that way you can gather your own herbs and mill them into pigments and turn them into your own inks. Then all you have to do is buy parchments that are sold next to your factions Inscription trainer to Inscribe your own glyphs.

You will notice that once you venture out into the world of Azeroth, that herbs are everywhere you turn. I mean if you got to be out there questing and killing monsters you might as well be picking the herbs too. Quick note on that, Blizzard made it so that you also gain experience while gathering herbs so there is no reason for you not too.

Glyphs

Now obviously glyphs are the meat and potatoes of this profession. What makes this profession so good is that you can start making glyphs pretty much right away. So that means two things: 1) You can start selling them on the Auction House to start making gold right away due to the materials that are needed to make them are relatively easy to acquire while leveling. 2) Once you hit your profession skill at 75 you can learn Minor Inscription Research, which you can use once a day to learn a new glyph recipe , so make sure you do it everyday.

Leveling Inscription is quick and easy due to most of the glyphs will grant you up to 3 skill ups per glyph. Another perk is that you obviously will be able to make your own glyphs for your character and not have to resort to buying them on the auction house yourself.

Darkmoon Cards

Another reason that scribes aspire to get to max profession level is to start making Darkmoon Faire Cards to assemble into Decks. These decks can be turned into the Darkmoon Faire that comes around once a month and you can trade them for a trinket to make your character really powerful. These trinkets are currently item level 359 which is the highest item level without going into Heroic Mode 10 and 25 man Raids. So as you can imagine they fetch a good price on the auction house.

On another note it can be pretty expensive to craft these cards as the materials if bought from the auction house can be costly and when you make a card it is completely random. You need to collect eight cards of the same deck to be able to put one together. So you need the Ace-8, and there are 4 different decks, so thats 32 cards that can be randomly made. So you might be lucky and get the ones you need, or you can be unlucky and not get the cards you need. My suggestion with that would be to trade any duplicates or any cards that you don't need with other players until you get all the cards for your deck.

Mysterious Fortune Cards

Now these are a lot of fun. This is basically the lotto of World of Warcraft. They are not at all expensive to make and they can be addicting for some people. These are cards that people can flip and see if they won any gold. It is that simple. The most gold that you can get from this is 5000 gold. It's no secret that people LOVE to gamble, and these things go like hot cakes when you put them in the Auction House. I can sell these things by the boatload, and people will still come back for more. They can also be used by a cook to make Fortune Cookies which is probably one of the better food buff due to the fact that it will give your character a boost to his/her most important stat by 90. So plenty of gold to be had with these bad boys.

Off-Hand Relics and other stuff

There is also the benefit of making off-hand relics that cater to just about every class that can use relics. You can also enchant your own shoulder pieces with stats that anybody who is anybody needs. The relics sell pretty well as long as there is not a whole lot of competition. They sell well too.

Pros:

1) You can start making glyphs to put on the Auction House to start making extra gold while you are leveling right away.

2) One of the easier professions to level up

3) Materials to make everything is almost always available

Cons:

1) Depending on your server the glyph market could be very competitive.

2) Darkmoon Faire Cards can make you a lot of money but they are pretty expensive to make. Also they are very time consuming if you farm for the materials yourself.

Closing

Well, there you have it. Inscription is a great profession that has a lot of benefits to whatever character that you choose to level it with. Not only that but it has great potential to make you a lot of gold on the auction house due to being able to cover so many markets. There are a TON of glyphs, and while some may argue that the glyph market is pretty cut throat, it depends on your server it might be. Understand that not EVERY glyph is on the auction house ALL the time. If you are confused about what profession to take to make money on the auction house with. I would most definitely recommend this one a a starter because of the wide variety of items that could be made with it and how quickly it could be leveled up as well.
